Acknowledgement of Traditional Territories
The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).
The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.â€

Indigenous admissions
The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ acknowledges and respects the rich diversity of learners and of their communities, cultures, traditions, aspirations and abilities. In order to ensure equitable access and successful participation for Indigenous learners, UCalgary offers a number of bridging/pathway options for eligible students of Indigenous identity, i.e., First Nations (status and non-status), Métis and Inuit.
Start by submitting your application for admission
The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ will accept applications for admission for the fall intake from October 1 – March 1. Students are encouraged to apply early.
Indigenous admission process and supplementary process
UCalgary offers pathway options such as the Indigenous admission process or Indigenous admissions supplementary process for eligible students of Indigenous identity who may not meet UCalgary’s admission requirements. Students who do not receive an initial offer of admission will be automatically reviewed for UCalgary’s pathway and bridging options after first being reviewed as part of the initial application process.
Indigenous Student Access Program
This cohort-based one year transition program offers an alternative access route for Indigenous students to enter our post-secondary degree programs. In addition to taking first-year university courses, you’ll also receive enhanced academic support, including a designated advisor and one-on-one academic advising, access to cultural workshops, leadership training, peer support and tutorials. Applications are accepted December 1 – July 31 for fall.
